Perkins IV
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical
Education Improvement Act of 2006 sets
federal policy and primary funding for career
technical education and Tech Prep. The core of
Perkins IV is enhanced accountability to raise
student achievement. Each state’s five-year plan
establishes specific performance targets for
these goals.

academic achievement of career and technical
education students

Strengthen
connections among secondary and postsecondary
education

Improve state and
local accountability
By 2014 all Ohio career
technical programs will transition to Tech Prep. The
state’s Perkins IV Plan raises academic
expectations, strengthens postsecondary and business
connections and implements performance standards.
